Let Your Apprentices Shine in the East of England Local Government Apprenticeship Challenge 2020
Following on from the success of the East of England Local Government Apprentice of the Year 2019, we are already working on the Apprentice of the Year process for 2020.
Next year, there will be three “Apprenticeship Challenge” heats held in different locations across the region and we are working with our local authority partners to deliver these. The current dates and locations are still provisional but we expect them to be:
Thursday 9th January Norfolk
Wednesday 5th February Peterborough
Wednesday 4th or Thursday 5th March Essex
The finalists from each heat will then take part in a ‘Champion of Champions’ event later in the year which will crown the East of England Local Government Apprentice of the Year 2020.
Who will succeed the 2019 winner, Kirsten Moore from Central Bedfordshire Council, to the coveted title? Could it be you or someone in your team?
The Apprenticeship Challenge is a truly immersive learning experience which benefits everyone who participates. Each apprentice becomes part of a team with apprentice colleagues from across the region (not from their own authority) and they are then assessed on a variety of activities throughout the day centred on working in a fictional Council. Ultimately, a winner is crowned but every apprentice who takes part in the Challenge receives an individual report with feedback on their identified strengths and weaknesses which they can use in their workplaces for identifying further personal development.
Don’t just take our word for it though. One of the 2019 Apprenticeship Challenge participants said that “It was a privilege to attend an event like this, I’m grateful for the opportunity”.
Information will be available shortly on how you can book places for your apprentices so reserve these dates in your diaries now and use this as an opportunity to showcase the talent and potential that your apprentices bring to your council.
