The East of England LGA is running a series of free roundtable discussions in 2022 and 2023. These sessions are open to all members and colleagues of councils in the East of England and their partner organisations. At the EELGA Roundtable Discussions you will hear from a guest speaker on each theme and have the opportunity to learn from, and share, your own examples of best practice, opportunities, and challenges.

What career paths can local government offer enthusiastic, ambitious and dedicated individuals and how are we communicating this? This is just one of the many questions councils in the east of England should aim to be clear on when considering growing talent within the region. Against a backdrop of an ageing workforce and tough competition for skilled and experienced employees; talent mapping and succession planning are just two of the many important considerations for councils. Join in with us as we discuss the key challenges and opportunities around growing and securing the region’s skills, knowledge and experience within local government. Let’s work together to help shape the future talent within local government throughout the east of England.
