The East of England LGA is running a series of free roundtable discussions in 2024 and 2025. These sessions are open to all councils in the East of England and their partner organisations. At the EELGA roundtable, you will hear from a guest speaker on each theme and have an opportunity to learn from, and share your own examples of, best practice, opportunities, and challenges.

The Government is making the shift from “Sickness to Prevention” a core element of its mission to build an NHS fit for the future through the NHS 10-Year Plan. Therefore, it is important to establish how this could be done within the existing system, with councils and health colleagues working together to enable this. ICSs were identified by the Hewitt Review as being a potential coordinator of preventative activity, with the review advocating that 1% of the NHS budget should be spent on such activity over the next 5 years.

This roundtable will explore how to strengthen the evidence base for shifting focus and resources in Integrated Care Systems. It will also use facilitated discussion to obtain views from around the region on what’s needed to support the shift towards prevention, which can then be fed into the NHS ten-year plan.

We will also hear from the NHS Confederation on their recent report “Paving a New Pathway to Prevention” published in October.

Please note: if this session is oversubscribed places will be limited to 2 – 3 people per authority.
