Local authorities in the East of England face a host of challenges in the coming years as cuts to their budgets continue and demands on services increase. The pressure on local authorities has resulted in a move towards more local generation of revenue to support ongoing service delivery. With this trend set to continue, many more challenges and opportunities will be presented in the coming years.

Objectives for the event:

  • A chance to hear from councils about their financial priorities and needs in the coming year(s)
  • An opportunity to network with fellow finance professionals, elected members, expert speakers and other key partners
  • Sharing of good practice and intelligence in relation to financial management in local government
  • To understand the latest developments in this field and explore innovative approaches to meeting the challenges arising

The event will allow local authorities in the East of England to explore how councils have so-far faced the challenge of remaining financially robust and will hear from specialists on good practice examples, as well as what more councils can do to survive and thrive in the ever changing world of local government.
