Local Government East is running a series of free roundtable discussions in 2025 and 2026. These sessions are open to all councils in the East of England and their partner organisations. At the roundtable, you will hear from a guest speaker on each theme and have an opportunity to learn from, and share your own examples of, best practice, opportunities, and challenges.

With the Local Government White paper now published, additional clarity received around the Government’s timetable, local government reorganisation is becoming an increasingly important feature of local government. However, the process can be fraught with pitfalls and hidden surprises, which will make the coming two years difficult for those authorities undergoing the transformation.

Objectives:

  • Share the lessons learned from areas which have established a new unitary council, to support councils in the East of England with proposals for local government reorganisation (LGR).
  • Explore the potential impacts for the local government workforce.
  • Consider the support needed from central government for our region.

Agenda and speakers to follow shortly.

Who should attend: Chief Executives, Leaders, Directors and Portfolio Holders for Corporate Services, Finance, and Human Resources in the East of England.

Please note: if this session is oversubscribed places will be limited to 2 – 3 people per authority.
