East of England hosts parliamentary reception

14th February 2018

The East of England LGA and the Eastern Academic Health Science Network are jointly holding an East of England Parliamentary Reception, hosted by the MP for West Suffolk, Matt Hancock.

The Reception marks an important bi-annual event in the region’s calendar.  The event will welcome MPs, council leaders and chief executives, alongside business, health and academic leaders from across the East, to celebrate our economic strengths and make a strong case for the resources, powers and freedoms to drive forward our growth ambitions.

The East of England has long been a strong pillar of the national economy and as an essential net contributor to Treasury it is critical to future of the UK plc that it maintains and grows its productivity, profitability and employment.

Strategic partners in the East of England are already working hard to harness their collective strength to address barriers to housing, secure infrastructure and transport growth, and build on our strength in innovation in science, technology & industry.

This important event offers us the valuable opportunity to come together to tackle the challenges and deliver on our ambitions.

The reception will take place on Wednesday 28 February 2018 from 16:00 – 18:00 in the Terrace Pavilion of the House of Commons.
