Consultation on the New London Plan launched

6th December 2017

The Mayor of London’s new London Plan was launched on 1 December 2017 and is open for consultation until 2 March 2018. The new London Plan is published at a time of unprecedented pressure on land, infrastructure and the environment across the Wider South East (WSE).  At the launch of the London Plan on 1 December, Deputy Mayor Jules Pipe stressed that this new London Plan is designed to be more engaging and accessible, with a focus on tangible policies and greater clarity on how the plan will be implemented.

The London Plan Consultation can be found here: https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/planning/london-plan/new-london-plan

The East of England LGA has played a central role in supporting member councils to engage with the Greater London Authority in the past two years, and in the run up to the publication of the London Plan was able to influence the London Plan policies relating to WSE Engagement. The policies relating to WSE engagement can be found in chapter 2 of the consultation. Councils in the East are encouraged to respond to the consultation.

The East of England LGA continues to work with partners across the WSE and is organising the WSE Joint Summit on 26 January 2018 at the GLA in London. This event will present an opportunity for council leaders to engage with representatives from the GLA on the London Plan and feedback thoughts and comments.

The East of England LGA will be working with member councils to prepare an East of England response to London Plan, and invites you to send in thoughts and comments which will be used to inform this response.  For more information and to share your thoughts on the London Plan with us, please contact Cinar Altun, Policy and Secretariat Manager at cinar.altun@eelga.gov.uk
