Wider South East Area-Focussed Roundtable Meetings 2020 for Council Leaders and Chief Executives

The Wider South East (WSE) partnership brings together the Greater London Authority, London Councils, the East of England LGA, and South East England Councils (SEEC) to initiate, steer and agree strategic collaboration activities across the Wider South East area – defined as the East of England, South East of England and London.

Following the last meeting of the WSE Political Steering Group on 9 September 2019 and WSE working group meeting on 30 October 2019, a joint letter has been sent to all Leaders and Chief Executives of local councils in the East and South inviting them to attend area-focussed roundtable discussion meetings.

A key focus of these meetings will be to explore practical shared issues and possible ways forward around growth, infrastructure and the economy, for example as reflected in the ‘willing partners’ approach set out in the new London Plan. Other topics to explore could include issues related to ‘placed’ homeless households; and tackling housing delivery challenges and barriers, including infrastructure and affordable homes.

The next annual Wider South East Summit is expected to take place in Autumn 2020 and it is envisaged that these meetings will take place prior to the Summit, in the Spring and Summer of 2020.
