“The council needs more training like this”

18th December 2018

The East of England LGA’s recent Commercialisation Masterclass in Cambridge on Friday 23rd November received some astoundingly positive feedback with a whopping 70% of attendees rating the event as Excellent!

Introducing delegates to the concept of Commercialisation through a fast-paced mix of innovative game-play activities, presentations and team working, this interactive learning event proved to be a massive hit with those who attended. Led by EELGA’s own Senior Manager, Eddie Gibson and Caroline Adlem, Head of Commercial and Traded Development at Essex County Council, delegates explored commercial tools and concepts such as Value Propositions, Market Segmentation and the Balanced Scorecard. The day culminated in a “Dragon’s Den” style presentation of five potential new commercial projects with “Team Grafham Water” winning the judging panel over with their compelling Value Proposition and astute Marketing Plan to take the coveted first prize.

Honourable mentions to the other participating teams – C&C, Weekend, Northstowe and Digital – for their contributions to an enjoyable day of learning and networking, as evidenced by some of the feedback comments:

“Useful in highlighting different dimensions of commercial thinking”

“I really enjoyed the day and learned a great deal. I would highly recommend the Masterclass to anyone who is interested and even people who are not”

“Fun interactive experience and lots of collaboration and team working”

“Absolutely brilliant. Top marks – well done to everyone involved!”
