Public Practice is launched!

2nd November 2017

This week saw the launch of Public Practice which has been established as a Social Enterprise opening up an alternative career path for a new generation of practitioners interested in shaping places for the public good.

The East of England has been engaged in the work to develop 'Public Practice', led by the GLA, as part of the regional project to address the shortage of planners across the region.

Public Practice is recruiting a first cohort of 16 outstanding planners, architects and urbanists for year-long placements in strategic roles within Local Authorities. These Associates will receive industry-leading training and mentoring, and spend 10% of their time taking part in collective research and development to be shared across the sector. Authorities will be offered a simple and cost-effective way of accessing a new pool of talent, as well as benefitting from shared research and learning.

Public Practice is inviting applications for the first cohort of Associates and expressions of interest from Authorities interested in hosting placements by 10 December. The first cohort will be based across London and the East of England. Further details can be found on the Public Practice website including a prospectus for authorities.
