Local Government Association launches “Commercial Services Map”

4th September 2017

For a number of years, the national Local Government Association (LGA) has administered an interactive, on-line national map of local authorities who are successfully undertaking “shared services”:

Given the increasing number of local authorities who are setting up commercial services, the LGA has now set up a similar interactive map to showcase best practice in this area:

They are now seeking examples of local authority commercial services which can be used to populate this map. Information should be sent to John Wilesmith (John.Wilesmith@local.gov.uk) or Rhian Gladman (rhian.gladman@local.gov.uk) listing the following:

  • Name of your project / service / company
  • Main aim(s)
  • Brief description of project (including figures if appropriate, e.g. turnover)
     (no more than 100 words)
  • Achievements of project (including figures if possible, e.g. income generated last year)
     (no more than 100 words)
  • Future goals of project (including figures if possible, e.g. income generation for future years)
     (no more than 100 words)
  • Contact Name and email address

The LGA accepts that not all projects will be able to provide info/figures for all of the above, so they are happy for submissions to deviate from this ideal within reason, as appropriate. However, submissions must have a contact name and email address.
