Local Authority Challenge East is back for 2019

6th March 2019

The Local Authority Challenge EAST is back for a seventh year with a whole new scenario for 2019! The East of England LGA is once again proud to be supporting Breckland Training Services with this fantastic annual event.

The focus of the LA Challenge is firmly on learning and development and, as in previous years, the challenge will offer a rare opportunity for aspiring managers across the public sector to gain exposure to issues outside of their normal working lives and give them a taste of what executive management in a local authority is really like!

The event this year will take place at the Granta Centre near Cambridge on Wednesday 30th October, running from 09:30 to 19:15. There are just 24 team spots available this year so early booking is recommended to secure your place.

To give the Challenge added edge and hopefully add a fun element of competition, there are prizes awarded at the end of the day in a number of categories, including the coveted “Best Team”, which was won by Braintree District Council in 2018 (pictured below).
However, winning is not the main aim of taking part in the Challenge – the aim is for you and your team to learn during the day and develop new skills so we urge you to select your team with a developmental focus rather than a ‘win at all costs’ one.

We are also looking for volunteers to act as stakeholders to interact with the competing teams on the day. We need suitably experienced individuals to act as council leaders, members of the media, members of partner organisations and much more who can give up their day to support the event. You will be kept fed and watered throughout and we can promise that you will learn just as much about your own skills and capabilities as the teams going through the Challenge process.

If you would like any further information on the various opportunities available or if you have a question about entering a team, then please contact Richard Wills at Breckland Training Services on 07899 064 638 or by email to Richard.wills@breckland.gov.uk

If you are already convinced, then please download and complete the entry form and return it to info@breckland-training.co.uk
