First project commissioned under East of England LGA’s new “Productivity Programme”

9th May 2017

The East of England LGA’s “Productivity Programme” is now available for councils in the region to access and received a boost this week with confirmation of the first confirmed project to be delivered using this new approach.

A district council in the region is undertaking a fundamental review of its’ in-house print centre, exploring potential future options to make the service financially sustainable, and has commissioned an Associate from EELGA’s Talent Bank to carry out the first phase of this work.

The project will be fully funded by EELGA using our new “Productivity Programme”, which allows councils to receive up to £3K of support from one of our Talent Bank Associates, drawing on their specific expertise and experience of supporting councils in the following areas:

  • Asset Management
  • Commercialisation
  • Human Resources and Organisational Development
  • Procurement, Commissioning and Contract Management
  • Public Service Reform

The objectives of the Productivity Programme are to:

  • supply proven short-term expertise to help, advise and challenge councils
  • enable officers and members to identify and deliver improvement and efficiency
  • support and enable approaches that will boost productivity, innovation and new ways of working
  • provide seed-funding to identify opportunities for substantial and transformational change

Whilst the project above is for an individual council, East of England LGA would welcome approaches from councils who wish to “pool” their Productivity Programme funding and deliver the above objectives by working in collaboration.
