Financial Resilience in a time of Challenge and Change

9th May 2018

On 15 June 2018, the East of England Local Government Association will be holding its annual Finance Summit ‘Financial Resilience in a time of Challenge and Change’ at the Granta Centre Cambridge.

The event will bring together Senior Finance Officers and Elected Members from East of England local councils to explore how councils are meeting the challenges and opportunities of remaining financially robust in the ever changing world of local government.

National Audit Office (NAO) Director, Aileen Murphie will deliver the keynote address, providing an overview of the NAO’s recently published report Financial Sustainability of Local Authorities 2018. This report, highlights that despite greater freedoms to increase council tax bills and one-off short-term funds from government, local authorities are struggling to juggle higher demands and cost pressures against significant central government funding cuts of nearly 50% since 2010-11.

Delegates will have an opportunity to hear from specialists on a range of topics including:

  • Brexit
  • Future funding of Adult Social Care
  • Universal Credit
  • Accelerating Housing Delivery
  • LGA Mutual
