Final Call: It is your ‘Time to Shine’ in The East of England LGA Apprenticeship Challenge 2020

Would you or an apprentice in your Authority like to be recognised regionally, while also being involved in a learning and development event

Would you or an apprentice in your Authority like to be recognised regionally, while also being involved in a learning and development event with a competitive edge?

Following on from the success of the East of England Local Government Apprentice of the Year 2019, we have put together two apprenticeship heats to be held in different locations across the region. The finalists from each heat will then take part in a ‘Champion of Champions’ event later in the year which will crown the East of England Local Government Apprentice of the Year 2020.

Heat One was held in Norwich on Thursday 09 January 2020, but there is still time to apply to enter Heat Two in Chelmsford on Wednesday 04 March 2020. For an opportunity to become the East of England “Apprentice of the Year 2020”, click here to apply.

This is the only professional development opportunity in the East of England specifically targeted at Local Government Apprentices and leading to regional recognition.

It is a truly immersive learning experience which benefits everyone who participates!

Heat One delegate, Alexandrina Mihalachita, Recruitment Assistant Apprentice, Norfolk County Council, said:

“The Apprenticeship Challenge event was a great opportunity to see myself in action in a new and unknown environment. It was enlightening; I think this is the word that can be used to describe the entire experience. It really helped me to improve my focus, my knowledge and my communication skills and I would definitely recommend it to other apprentices”.

And it wasn’t just the Apprentices who really valued the day – Mentor, Sarah Ellis, Learning and Development Manager, Ipswich Borough Council, reflected:

“It was a pleasure and a privilege to be one of the mentors supporting this year’s ‘Time to Shine Apprentice Challenge’.  I was impressed by the enthusiasm, professionalism and creativity of all those who took part.  There is a wealth of talent in our apprenticeship community who will be the shining stars of the future”.
