Explore Community-Led Housing at Scale

Join EELGA and Eastern Community Homes to explore community-led housing and how it can be used to shape the Growth Agenda across the East

Taking place on Monday 25th October at 2pm the online event will look at what is happening elsewhere in the UK and Europe to accelerate the delivery of community led housing and how by actively engaging with citizens we can create sustainable communities addressing the environmental and social challenges growth presents.

The event will be chaired by Cllr Matthew Hicks Leader of Suffolk County Council and Chairman of the EELGA Infrastructure and Growth Board. Attendees will hear from:

  • Charlie Fisher from Transition by Design, a Design and Architecture Cooperative in Oxford, who will talk about The Paper Mill, a large scale community led project in Oxfordshire;
  • Andrea Wieland, Managing Director of the Mehr Als Wohnen (More than living) Housing Co-operative;
  • Alex Martinovitz, the City of Zurich’s representative on the Co-operative’s Board.

This event is suitable for Leaders, Chief Executives, Portfolio Holders, and Directors and Heads of Growth, planning and strategic housing. You can sign up for the event here.

Eastern Community Homes, hosted by Cambridgeshire ACRE, provides tools and support for groups interested in affordable community-led housing. It is a partnership of the six rural councils in the East of England, offering support to groups from those areas to deliver community-led housing projects. In the past year 17 Councils across the region have signed up to support Eastern Community Homes. You can find out more about ECH and the councils who have signed up here.
