The East of England LGA is running a series of free roundtable discussions in 2023 and 2024. These sessions are open to all councils in the East of England and their partner organisations. At the EELGA Roundtable Discussions you will hear from a guest speaker on each theme and have an opportunity to learn from, and share your own examples of best practice, opportunities and challenges.
In our discussions with officers and councillors across the East of England, a recurring theme has emerged – How do we as a region maximise the benefit available from the large number of infrastructure projects underway in our area? One such way is by harnessing these massive projects to boost the development of skills in our area.
Therefore, in this roundtable, we will discuss the opportunities that these large projects open up for meaningful skills development in our region, and address what challenges exist in coordinating and maximising these advantages. In particular, we want to talk how Community Benefit Funds can be used to boost future skills provision, and establish how, as a region, we ensure that benefit to the region remains long after the last of these projects have wound up.
Who should attend: Councillors, leaders, chief executives, officers at all levels and other partner organisations in the East of England region.
Please note: if this session is oversubscribed places will be limited to 2 – 3 people per authority.
