The East of England LGA is running a series of free roundtable discussions in 2024 and 2025. These sessions are open to all councils in the East of England and their partner organisations. At the EELGA roundtable, you will hear from a guest speaker on each theme and have an opportunity to learn from, and share your own examples of, best practice, opportunities, and challenges.

Planning reform has been identified by all parties as a key issue with regards to solving the housing crisis, addressing our water needs, and speeding up the rollout of energy infrastructure. In an election year, it is crucial that the East of England speaks up to ensure that any proposed planning reform benefits our region and respects the autonomy of local areas to determine the kinds of development they want to see in their area.

As a result, EELGA would like to bring together stakeholders from across the East of England to agree on a position statement on upcoming planning reforms, so the region can present a united front on areas of key change that may take place post-election. This will include areas such as:

  • Energy Transmission.
  • Housebuilding across the region.
  • Planning workforce.

Agenda to follow shortly.

Who should attend: Councillors, officers working in planning, policy, economic development and housing, and registered housing providers.

Please note: if this session is oversubscribed places will be limited to 2 – 3 people per authority.
