International recruitment has many benefits and can help boost the numbers of our workforce. However, the recruitment processes are not always easy to navigate and various barriers can be experienced by both employers, international recruits and the broader workforce.
In order to help with international recruitment, the Eastern Region has been awarded £2.4m grant funding from the Department of Health and Social Care to provide a support offer to the adult social care sector. This grant will be used to develop shared solutions to international recruitment challenges, reducing complexities and burdens, particularly for smaller and medium enterprises. It will also promote collaborative working and strengthen safeguards against exploitation.
The Eastern Region is using the grant funds to provide a programme of support for international recruitment support for care providers in the following areas:
- Virtual Centre of Excellence
- Ethical Recruitment / Modern Slavery
- Immigration, Sponsorship, Visas
- Pastoral Care / Cultural Orientation
- Refugee engagement to work in ASC
- Cars / Driving / Transport
- Anti-Racist practice standards
- Accommodation / Guides
- Career onboarding / Training / Learning & Development
