Workshop Outline:

The training will focus on:

  • Anti-racist practice for organisation culture change
  • Facilitated anti-racist discussions – learning to have uncomfortable conversations about race
  • Meeting the development and support needs of Black and global majority staff members
  • Protected characteristics
  • Microaggressions
  • stereotypes
  • Bias
  • Intersectionality
  • Engaging and supporting Black and global majority children, families & communities

 

Training Facilitator:

Millie Kerr

Millie has worked in a wide range of frontline, managerial and strategic roles, which has included safeguarding and child protection, HIV/AIDS, managing a child asylum team and leaving care service. In addition to service managing a specialist FGM provision and policy development. Millie presently holds the role of Strategic Anti-Racist Lead – Business improvement, for Brighton and Hove City Council, as well as developing her own growing consultancy.

Millie has experience as a Practice Educator, strategic planning, leadership and change management, people management and impacting organisation culture change. In addition to acting as a Race Adviser, for Local Safeguarding Children Partnership reviews (LSCPR). She is skilful in delivering anti-racist practice and racial equity training, to local authorities and organisations. Which supports improved service delivery to the Black and global majority communities that we serve, and racial equity and representation for staff members employed by the public sector, to ensure their voices are heard and valued.

Anti-racist training and development has been delivered to local authority children and adult social care services, the third sector/charities, lawyers and judges, health professionals, Universities (BA/MA social work programmes) and the police.  Millie has presented to organisations, at a local level, at national conferences, webinars, workshops and as a keynote speaker. Her objective is to enhance social justice, racial equity and inclusion for all.

 

How the training will be delivered: The training will be delivered through MS teams and will not be recorded. It will be delivered through a power point presentation, visual materials and discussions.
