Description Liz has been an Elected Member since 2002 and held a variety of roles during that time including Council Leader and Leader of the Opposition with portfolios as diverse as environment; assets; education; finance; children’s services; planning and audit. She was the first woman Leader and has been instrumental in winning a major estate regeneration ballot, forming Achieving for Children CIC to manage joint children services, planning committee approvals for key sites, bringing both Lidl and Unilever HQ to her borough, setting up a committee system for governance She also has held LGA positions of Deputy Chair of Children and Young People, Vice Chair of Improvement and Innovation and Chair of Culture, Tourism and Sport boards, as well as an accredited peer mentor and lead on Corporate Peer Challenges. Passionate about Local Government and helping everyone at councils be ‘the best they can’ to deliver for local communities, Liz now undertakes training and facilitation for members and officers. She specialises in developing leadership skills through tailor-made or ‘off the peg’ courses, workshops, webinars and facilitated group work, delivered either in person and online.
