Making a difference in the East of England

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic new member of our highly performing team.  Based in Bury St Edmunds but travelling around the region the successful candidate will lead our policy, secretariat, communications /marketing and events functions on behalf of the membership of the East of England Local Government Association; you will be able to demonstrate relevant experience in all of these areas.
 
As part of our senior management team you will work closely with the Managing Director/ Director and two other senior managers to deliver first class support and services to our membership as set out in our business plan.

We are passionate about improving public services and you will be too.  In addition to a strong background in public policy you will be a credible advocate, astute and agile with highly developed analytical capabilities and great organisational and leadership skills; the successful candidate will work alongside our 50 member councils and a wide range of stakeholder as a “trusted advisor” to help them have a national voice for the region and be the best authority they can be for the community they serve.

EU Exit Regional Programme Manager

Salary: £38,813 to £42,683 pro rata
Location: Existing or East of England LGA offices, Bury St Edmunds
Employment Type: 6-month secondment or fixed term contract (with potential to extend), part-time
Working hours: 15-20 hours (to be agreed on appointment)

The East of England Local Government Association has been leading a process, on behalf of the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government (MHCLG), since January 2019 to support regional information flow between government and 50 councils in the East of England on the impact of, and preparation for, Britain’s exit from the EU.

We are now looking to appoint to a new part-time post to take this work programme forward.  

The role holder will support the ‘Regional EU exit - local authority lead chief executive’ to lead a  collaborative process with MHCLG (and other government departments/agencies as required) and East of England councils to coordinate two-way sharing of intelligence about the impact of, and preparation for, Britain’s exit from the EU.

To be the successful candidate you must have an excellent working knowledge of local government, alongside experience of working with high-level stakeholders from different organisations.  You will have strong research and organisational skills, coupled with the ability to deliver at pace to tight deadlines.  You must be able to work on own initiative, and demonstrating self-motivation and resourcefulness.
