Homelessness in the East of England

East of England LGA's Housing Project Team has produced a special briefing into Homelessness that looks at some trends in the rise in homelessness and repossessions across councils in the East of England.

It sets this information in the context of the wide range of policy and benefit changes that are being introduced by the Government, and identifies some of the key questions that councils will need to grapple with over how to deliver housing and related services over the next few years.

LATEST NEWS:
E-Learning

The project will deliver a free e-learning platform to each local authority across the East of England.

The contract for the East of England e-learning project has now been awarded to Creative Learning Services/Anglia Ruskin University. It will last for 18 months during which time authorities expect to save approximately £2.5m through:

  • collaborative procurement of e-learning
  • collaborative production and sharing of e-learning materials
  • saving on the cost of premises, trainer time, lost working time, travel and subsistence through less face to face training
  • delivering more cost effective training using e-learning.

Beyond the Basics - Free climate change training for planners across the East of England

The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) has been commissioned by Sustainability East to deliver climate change skills training for local authority planners and elected members across the East of England.

This project is being developed as part of the Climate Change Skills Fund programme, and managed by Sustainability East on behalf of Improvement East.

Community Live Sites for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The London 2012 Organising Committee have released a Community Live Site celebration guide for local authorities.

The Community Live Site programme is part of the way London 2012 will engage with the whole of the UK and help create local celebrations at Games time next year. Live Sites are big screens and event spaces in urban centres offering live information, video, news and community events.
