Council Leaders, Portfolio-Holders and partners from LEPs are invited to an East of England LGA network meeting to better understand and influence strategic engagement with the EU

Council Leaders, Portfolio-Holders and partners from LEPs are invited to an East of England LGA network meeting to better understand and influence strategic engagement with the EU. 

Running immediately before the next meeting of the East of England's Europe and International Forum, the network will see Members share insights on:

Key issues of current EU policy including:

  • The review of Assisted Area Status and its impact on Luton, Central Bedfordshire, Tendring, Great Yarmouth, Southend and Waveney;
  • Future of Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and the Connecting Europe Facility; and,
  • The future of Structural Funds for 2014-2020.

The impact of the European Regional Development Fund on supporting businesses across the East of England;

Advice about using the East of England Brussels Office and the EU Connects service to support local authorities, LEPs and community groups access under-used EU funds;

How local authorities can make the most of engaging with the EU with limited resources;

Routes to influence the work of the East of England Brussels Office, including links with the LGA's Europe and International Forum and the Committee of the Regions.
