The Homelessness Reduction Act, the most significant change in homelessness legislation for several decades, came into force on 3 April 2018. Local councils now have greater responsibilities to prevent and relieve homelessness, yet a combination of a shortage of homes, soaring private rents and frozen household incomes provides a complex set of challenges.

In partnership with the District Councils’ Network, the Local Government Association, and the National Housing Federation, the East of England LGA are holding 'A Systems Approach to Homelessness and Housing Supply' conference on the 21 June to consider the learning from the preparation for the Act, and to look to innovative solutions to reduce homelessness and meet local housing needs.

The event will draw on learning from within the East of England, as well as focussing on exciting new approaches from the rest of the country and beyond.

Keynote Announced!
Our keynote speaker for the event comes all the way from Finland!  Juha Kaakinen is Chief Executive of the Y-Foundation and will provide an insight into their innovative Housing First model. This is a great opportunity to assess how this model might be integrated, as part of a wider system to reduce homelessness, here in England.
