Working with Trade Unions

The East of England Regional Council is made up of the local authority representatives on the Local Government Employers Panel and representatives of Unison, GMB and Unite.

The Council is responsible for negotiating and consulting at a regional level and is serviced by the Regional Employers Secretary and the Trade Union Secretary. The Council or the joint secretaries may delegate responsibilities to other regional officers.

Most conditions of service are either negotiated nationally or are determined at a local level, but there are a number of regional agreements that are still being updated until they are superseded. These are:

Authorities still using these agreements should note that they have recently been updated following the 1% national pay award from 1 April 2013. Excess Travelling time goes up in line with SCP 21, Standby Duty Allowance is increased in line with SCP 5 (and may therefore be affected by 'bottom loaded' settlements when they occur).
