The Association provides a range of tailored human resources, learning and development and organisational development support to local councils and the wider public and voluntary sector. We have a team of specialists to provide the experience, knowledge and skills to meet the needs of our partners.

Each member council has free access to our Employers' Helpdesk service, this provides rapid responses from expert practitioners on employment issues. Helpdesk enquiries can be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org
A new national online public sector pay benchmarking service which will provide participating local authorities with access to 'real time' pay benchmarking data for hundreds of common roles that exist across the sector.
In-depth help and advice about any employment, efficiency or improvement issue, including advice on job evaluations, single status, employer relations, change management, shared services and in depth advice on different cases. Recent projects have included senior pay advice, resolution of disputes, surveys, independent bullying & harassment investigations, organisational reviews. Early involvement can avoid expensive employment tribunal/settlements.
We provide mediation services for individuals referred by their Authority in line with ACAS guidance and legal requirements. We also provide in-house Mediation Training.
Recruitment and Selection
We provide a complete and very cost competitive recruitment service for senior posts, including Chief Executives/Chief Officers, or help with specific aspects of the recruitment process (e.g. assessment centre design/delivery and psychometric testing).
We co-ordinate an annual research programme in partnership with national bodies. We undertake surveys on behalf of the Heads of HR/PPMA and Local Government Employers. We can deliver staff surveys and bespoke research.
Training and Conferences
We organise and run conferences and training for members and officers on a range of issues. We are able to provide exceptional value conference administration to organisations wishing to run events.
Working at the direction of the Local Government Employers panel, we consult on national pay and terms and conditions. Meet with the Trade Unions at East of England level, promote good working arrangements, work to resolve local disputes and offer joint advice.
